What should I do if I haven't heard back from the other party?

Updated on 03/07/2026

Waiting for a reply from the other person and not sure what to do? Don't panic: in the vast majority of cases, it's simply a short delay. Here is how to handle the situation calmly.

Follow up with the other person via messages

The most effective way is to follow up directly from your Roomlala Inbox. A clear and polite follow-up message is often enough to resolve the situation.

To send your follow-up:

  • Log in to your account, then open your Inbox.
  • Click on the relevant conversation to open it.
  • Draft your message, then click on "Send message".

Remember to keep all your communication within the Roomlala messaging system: this way, you keep a record of your conversations and stay protected if needed.

Don't worry if your stay isn't coming up soon

If the arrival date isn't for a while, it's perfectly normal to wait a bit. Both hosts and tenants might need a few days to reply.

Everyone checks their messages at their own pace: not receiving an immediate answer doesn't mean your request has been ignored. Just give the other person time to get back to you.

If you still haven't received a reply

You've followed up and there's still silence? To maximise your chances, it's best not to pin all your hopes on a single conversation:

  • Tenant: don't hesitate to send multiple booking requests for other properties.
  • Host: continue chatting with other guests interested in your listing.
