Tenancy agreement

Wondering which agreement to use for your rental and how to access it? Don't panic, we'll explain everything.
Why sign a rental agreement?
Signing a rental agreement is strongly recommended, regardless of the length of the stay: short, medium, or long-term. This document and its clauses protect you in the event of a dispute.
Using a platform like Roomlala does not exempt you from drawing one up. Even if you receive a booking confirmation email from Roomlala, we recommend that you also sign an agreement and attach any additional documents required in your country.
The templates offered by Roomlala
Depending on your country and the length of the rental, Roomlala may provide you with a free agreement template to help you. The type of agreement offered depends in particular on the type of accommodation (furnished or not) and the duration of the rental.
These templates are provided for information purposes only. They are not binding on Roomlala and do not necessarily cover all situations. The applicable rules vary from one country to another, and there may be local specificities (notice periods, mandatory statements, supporting documents, caps, etc.) that differ from what the template provides.
That is why it is up to you to check that the agreement you sign is fully compliant with the legislation in force where the accommodation is located. In case of doubt, consult a legal professional. The Roomlala template is a starting point, not a guarantee of legal validity.
Is it mandatory to validate the agreement on Roomlala?
No. Using the agreement offered on Roomlala is not mandatory. You are free to sign another agreement, off-platform, better suited to your situation or your country.
The host can quite easily offer their own template if they wish, or a template that complies with local customs. The essential thing is that both parties are in agreement and that the contract respects the applicable law.
How to access agreements on Roomlala?
From your personal space, open the messaging system and then select the relevant booking. In the conversation, the Agreement section appears on the side of the page: this is where you can view the corresponding agreement.
How does it work?
The final agreement is only available after the booking is confirmed, that is to say once the payment has been made and the rental has been accepted by the host.
It is then the host who must initiate the signing of the agreement. The tenant cannot sign until the host has done so.
If the tenant leaves the accommodation earlier than expected
The agreement template offered by Roomlala does not include a notice period in the event of the tenant leaving early. However, notice period rules vary depending on the country and the type of rental.
In France, for example, the legal notice period for a furnished rental is one month, starting from the day the tenant announces their departure. If you wish to include a notice clause, you can have a different agreement signed than the Roomlala one, which includes it.
If no agreement was signed upon the tenant's arrival, you cannot demand a notice period in the event of an early departure: the tenant can leave the accommodation without giving you notice in advance.
